admissions-process

In order to determine if Arbor Bay School is an appropriate educational setting for your child, we will need to review all current educational assessment information you may have. Once the review process is completed we may need to obtain further diagnostic information to help us determine if this is the best educational placement for your child. If this is the case, please submit a $100 Screening fee in addition to following assessment and reports:

  • Academic testing and achievement levels
  • Current IEP
  • Developmental information
  • Pertinent medical information
  • Psychological testing
  • Speech and Language assessment and progress updates
  • Occupational Therapy assessment and progress updates
  • Current report card

Steps in the Process

  • Submit available records and reports for review. These may be sent or emailed to the Arbor Bay School office.
  • Your child may be selected for a screening with Arbor Bay School staff. This may include participation in individual and/or group school activities
  • The screening period may include consecutive shadow days. Following this, Arbor Bay staff will notify you regarding your child’s enrollment status.
  • If enrollment is felt to be appropriate, a start date will be determined for a 30 day trial placement. The first month of enrollment will be used as a diagnostic period to assure that school and class placement continues to be appropriate. At the end of the month, parents and staff will meet to further develop an individual learning profile with goals and objectives for your child’s educational experience at Arbor Bay School, if appropriate.

Throughout this enrollment process, we encourage you to share your questions, concerns or comments with us. It is only through working together that we will be able to make the best choices and plans for your child. Arbor Bay School admits children regardless of race, color, and national or ethnic origin, to its program during the regular school year or the extended school year.

First and last month tuition payment and registration is due July 1, 2017. Your installment is due within the 1st five (5) school days of the month. Arbor Bay School is licensed and certified by the state of California Department of Education as a Non-Public School. Arbor Bay School is a 501c-3 non-profit organization.

Arbor Bay School is comprised of a blending of student populations who benefit from a small classroom environment and more sophisticated learning strategies and support. This includes children functioning at grade level who benefit from the small setting combined with students with mild to moderate learning difficulties. Students may have a diagnosis of receptive-expressive language delay, dyslexia, auditory processing challenges, attention deficit, autism, asperger's, or they are gifted but benefit from the small classroom environment. The classes are blended in a way that facilitates students to actively engage with each other and with the learning process.

The mission of Arbor Bay School is to increase opportunities for children in grades K-8 with mild to moderate learning differences to achieve academic and social success. We achieve this through highly individualized and specialized instruction, combined with speech and occupational therapy in a small classroom environment.
